Day Two - Mall Rats

Exhibit A: the Toshiba Wonder Toilet
Today, we ventured out of Nhong's house to dip our toes into the torrent of life that is downtown Bangkok.

A little background then. Thailand's largest and most populous city, with over fourteen million people crowded into the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Compared to somewhere like Mumbai, it is cleaner without being sanitised, more sophisticated without pretensions.

As an example of said sophistication then, M'Lud, may I present Exhibit A: the Toshiba Wonder Toilet. This modern marvel accepts whatever you care to throw at it and then gently and thoroughly sanitises your nether parts, with warming streams of water and then a cooling feather-soft breeze.  Reader, I nearly bought one!

Anyway, to cut this story short, our hosts determined that it would be a kinder, gentler introduction to the  Bangkok experience if we went to a modern shopping mall - you've seen them seeded across the landscapes of America, Europe and of course, Britain.  Apart from the toilets, nothing new there.  I have a sneaking suspicion that some in our party were just keen to shop.   It's my birthday in a couple of days so, let's see what's in store; I expect something a little more piquant to whet my appetites.
